Upkeep

Keep runners and turf ready for anything

These habits take minutes and extend the life of your surfaces. Mix and match based on how hard your household is on the space.

Routine calendar

  • Weekly quick clean

    • Shake runners outdoors or vacuum on low suction with the brush bar off.
    • For turf, sweep loose debris and hose for 30 seconds if pollen builds up.
    • Spot treat spills immediately with a mix of mild dish soap and warm water.
  • Monthly deep clean

    • Scrub runner backings with a nylon brush to keep grip strong.
    • Use a turf rake or stiff broom to lift fibres, then rinse thoroughly.
    • Check seams and reapply exterior-grade tape if you notice any lift.
  • Seasonal reset

    • Before winter, let runners dry fully, then roll loosely so air can circulate.
    • In spring, refresh turf with an enzyme cleaner if pets use the space.
    • Inspect hardware or tape anchoring the edges after freeze-thaw cycles.

Targeted stain fixes

Road salt

Dissolve with warm water and a splash of white vinegar, then blot dry with towels.

Mud

Let dry completely before brushing loose dirt; finish with a mild soap rinse.

Pet accidents

Rinse immediately, spray with enzyme cleaner, and blot until odour disappears.

Rust spots

Use a specialty turf rust remover sparingly and rinse well before it dries.

When to replace blades or runners

  • Runner backing feels slick even after cleaning and drying.
  • Turf blades stay matted after brushing and rinsing.
  • You notice fraying edges or visible base material on high-traffic corners.
